Bitcoin Futures Time & Sales: Trade Tape

The Bitcoin futures trade tape lists recorded executions by contract and venue. A trade is completed activity, unlike an open order or an outstanding position, so trade sizes should not be read as changes in open interest.

Dated Bitcoin futures settle at a specified expiry. The futures basis is the difference between a futures price and the underlying spot price. A positive basis means the futures contract trades at a premium; a negative basis means it trades at a discount.

The term structure compares contracts with different expiries. Annualized basis accounts for time remaining until settlement, making maturities easier to compare. Near-expiry annualized values can be sensitive to small price differences, so read them alongside the contract price and expiry.
